2. GETTING AROUND WITHIN BARCELONA

2.1 How to get to the university. Have a look of the map of the university area. The red point in the north area of the map indicates the location of our Departament de Matemàtica Aplicada II. The blue dot indicates the Facultat de Matemàtiques i Estadística.
By subway: The closest subway stop is Palau Reial (line 3). You may wish to have a look of the subway map.
By bus: The buses getting to the university are: 7, 33, 54, 60, 67, 68, 74, 75

2.2 How to locate an address. The interactive map of the city is really convenient.

2.3 How to get anywhere. The city council has a nice service that allows you to know how to get from a place to another. A similar service is offered by the transportation company.

2.4 Tickets. Tickets are sold on buses and at the subway stations, but it is much more convenient to by a T10 card, that allows you 10 bus or subway trips for a cheaper price as well as using the train to and form the Airport. The T10 card is sold at the subway stations, at the tabacco shops, and at many newspapers stands. Please notice that it is not sold on the buses. There are several other kinds of cards (1 day pass, 3 days pass, 5 days pass, 1 month pass) but they are convenient only if you will use a lot the public transportation.

3. GETTING AROUND OUTSIDE BARCELONA

3.1 By train. There are three cathegories of trains:
Cercanías/Rodalies: trains that go at most 100 Km around Barcelona. You don't need any kind of reservation, and their frecuence is very hight.
Regionales/Regionals: trains that cover the entire Catalunya. You don't need to make reservations in these trains neither, but their frecuence is not so hight. We reccomend that you always check their schedule.
Grandes lineas/Grans línies: trains that take you to any destination in Spain. We reccomend to always make a reservation before using them.

Most of the trains go through the station Barcelona Sants. Its location is centric and is well connected by subway (Sants Estació, on lines 3 and 5) to any other point of the city. Some trains get to the more exclusive station of Barcelona Estació de França, also centrically located. Its corresponding subway station is Barceloneta (line 4). For more information, you can contact the railroad company.

3.2 By car. It is very easy to rent a car at the airport and at the railroad stations.
